I am impressed!
Hey Ircel! Thanks for stopping by!
Miss Beth,
I am aspiring to be an author, and am looking for advice on publishing. My book is almost entirely finished, and am looking forward to starting the process.
Thanks in advance,
Elizabeth Masen
Elizabeth (what a great name!),
Thanks for stopping by. First of all, CONGRATULATIONS on having finished a book. Woo-Hoo for you! That is a HUGE accomplishment. Most people never get that far. Now comes the hard work of revision. You’ll want a critique partner—somebody who’s farther along in the process than you—to read it and give you some feedback.
I just added a list to this page–my top books on the craft of writing and publishing fiction. I suggest you start checking some of those books out of the library, but if you’re truly serious about writing for publication, you’ll want to add them to your personal stash. Read with a highlighter in hand and take notes. That’s how I learned.
These books will all encourage you to join a professional organization like American Christian Fiction Writers, where you’ll connect with others who have the same passion as you. (see the link on my biography page) ACFW has an email loop where you can ask questions to your heart’s content, plus a monthly newsletter chock-full of industry updates.
Blessings on your embarkation on this wonderful ministry!
Beth
Would you consider doing a book about Tucker from Off The Record and Tour de Force? He was a really good character? We would like to read his story. Thank you.
Bridget, I’d love to write Tucker’s story. I’m glad you liked him—I’m kind of fond of him myself! I’ve got an idea for his story, but it’s on the back burner for now. I’m working on a historical series that traces Gilly and Laurel’s ancestors in the Colonial Mobile period. Thanks for the request. It really helps me to know what characters and story elements strike a chord with people!
i would also love to know what happens to tucker he was a good character the historical seris sound really cool!
I just sent you my email.
Thanks so much for the book plates.
When will you be in NYC for a book signing, we are
only 90 minutes from NYC. We drive it often…..
sometimes too often. Hard to get use to all those cars.
Kim
Kim! How nice to hear from you again. I can’t believe y’all have been gone for 13 years. Ho-o-o-oly cow!
Glad you’re enjoying the books. I sure have fun writing them. Would you like me to send you a couple of signed book plates? If so, email me your address (don’t put it here, of course).
Please stay in touch. I miss you!
Beth
Hey Beth,
I read and follow your website often. I can not believe all the books. I have a few of your books and they are wonderful….unsigned of course. I have not made it back to Mobile when you have a signing. I can not believe I knew you back when.
We have been gone from the good ole South for 13 yrs. Although Yankee country is where I lay my head I know where my roots are.
I love reading about the kids (well they are not kids anymore) I use to diaper them…..eeekkk now I am old.
Thanks for the great books.
[...] comes…learn more about Elizabeth White and while you’re at it, take a look at all her other books, [...]
When will your book controlling interest be coming out and is it # 2 following off the record? I don’t care to read series, untill they are all out, so just wanted to check. Thanks for your response.
bev
Hi, Bev–
Controlling Interest is already out. This list is incomplete–I’m still working on getting all my books up here.
My books are not true series. They are all stand-alone novels. Some of the characters will show up in other books, but that’s kind of a random thing with me. But just so you’ll know, the hero/heroine of Off the Record show up in both Controlling Interest and Tour de Force (which is also out now). And secondary characters in Off the Record become major characters in Controlling Interest and Tour de Force.
So if you want to think of the three books as a series, I guess you could say it’s complete. But I’m not ruling out writing another book using characters from earlier ones.
Thank you very much for your interest! Blessings on your day.
Beth
